Your Application

AuPairCare USA offers you the ability to begin your au pair programme all year-round. Depending on your experience and individual requirements, you should begin the application process between six to four months before your preferred departure date. If you are uncertain about completing your application within a certain amount of time, please contact us. We will be happy to advise you!

Once you have submitted your pre-application, we will get in touch with you to discuss the programme. We want to make sure that all of your questions are answered. You will then receive information about how to access the password protected "AuPairRoom". Here you have the opportunity to create your own personal profile and to complete your application so that it reflects you perfectly. Your complete application consists of your online profile along with a written portion including a medical report, childcare and personal character references, a photo collage and a letter to your host family. In addition, you will need to acquire a police background check, a valid passport as well as an international driving licence.

Depending on how quickly you complete your application, it is possible to have all documents together within three weeks. Once we receive all documents from you, we will contact you immediately in order to set up an appointment for a personal interview. Afterwards, your application will be sent to the USA, where interested host families can view it and then contact you via telephone or e-mail.

How long will it take?

If you have a quality application, childcare experience, excellent references, driving skills, as well as a pleasant manner on the telephone, chances are high that you will receive a host family placement quickly. We will help you make the most of your application because experience has shown that it is worth it to go the extra mile. Families review many applications, but they only contact the au pairs who make an enthusiastic, child-loving, mature impression. Au pairs with a strong application tend to match with a host family quickly, sometimes within 1-3 weeks!

We will send you your AuPairCare handbook along with tips for your talks and e-mails with potential host families. After phoning and e-mailing one another at least twice, you and your host family will decide whether it is a match. You will set an arrival date that should be at least five weeks later, in order for you to apply for your visa. Ideally, you will be able to leave for the United States two or three months after having submitted your complete application.
