Your Free Time in the USA
This is your free timeNaturally taking care of children is the focal point of your au pair year in the USA. However: a year without free time is impossible! Lots of au pairs use their free hours during the week in order to go to the gym, meet up with other au pairs at the movies or grab a table at Starbucks for a Caramel Macchiatto. Together you will have lots of fun - whether it is shopping, going to concerts, travelling or celebrating American holidays with your host family. Make friends from all over the worldOnce you have matched with a host family you will be able to view a list of au pairs in your AuPairRoom who are living in your host family's area. Why don't you get in contact with them even before your departure? This way you will already have new friends welcoming you when you arrive in the US! Furthermore during your stay, your local AuPairCare coordinator will organise au pair meetings on a regular basis. These meetings are a great way to catch up with au pairs who have been living in your area for a while and also to get to know the new au pair arrivals. Making new friends is so easy! Through au pair meetings, college courses, your host family or through other activities you will have the opportunity to get to know new people. This way many of our au pairs have been able to establish friendships that last way beyond their au pair stay. Discover the USAThis is your opportunity to take advantage of your au pair year in order to discover the highlights of the USA. There are a multitude of places to see and things to do - walk along the white beaches of Florida, visit exciting cities like San Francisco, Chicago, Miami or New York City, admire the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains or drive through the New England States during Indian Summer. Or why don't you explore the States around the Great Lakes, i.e. Ohio, Michigan or Wisconsin. Every State of the US is worth exploring! Time to travelYou will have plenty of time to travel. Each month you have one extended weekend plus you receive 10 days of holiday time in the year. You also have an optional 13th month to travel. This 13th month is especially well suited for further exploring the country, and create wonderful and long lasting memories of your time in the USA! And with your savings from the year, you will be able to enjoy your last month in the USA without having to worry about money.
