Au pair USA - Infant-Specialized Program

Training highlights:

  • Certification in infant CPR and first aid by the American Heart Association
  • Instruction on infant massage using the Liddle Kidz™ Foundation method, a leading infant massage learning organization
  • Instruction in infant sign language using the Baby Fingers™ method, a leading infant sign language learning organization

The Infant Specialized Au Pair program was designed for au pairs who have a specific interest and experience in caring for infants. You should have at least 300 hours of experience caring for children under the age of 2, and ideally you will have experience with babies aged 0-6 months, and feel comfortable caring for them. If you have experience with children aged 6-12 months only, you will still be able to apply to be an Infant Specialized Au Pair, provided you feel comfortable caring for children aged 0-6 months too.

Infant Specialized au pairs attend a separate training program devoted to baby care and infant development. After matching with a host family you will be scheduled to attend a 5 day hands-on Infant Specialized training program at our Au Pair Academy in New Jersey.

Infant Specialized Au Pair training topics Include:

  • General household safety and hygiene

  • Communicating with parents about infant care

  • Infant care basics (feeding, bathing, changing, transportation)

  • What to do in an emergency

  • Creating and monitoring baby's daily routine

  • Infant stages of development

  • Games and activities to stimulate infant mental development

  • Baby massage and infant soothing techniques

  • Infant sign language

  • Caring for multiples

  • American parenting techniques

  • Coping techniques to handle stress as an infant caregiver

Upon completion of this 5-day hands-on training you will be more confident in understanding a parent’s approach to infant care giving in America.

Au Pair Care's Infant Specialized curriculum was developed according to leading specialists in the areas of infant childcare and development. Au Pair Care's proprietary Infant Specialized Au Pair Training Program utilizes a hands-on approach to train au pairs in infant safety and caregiving and infant stimulation and development.
