Before you meet your host family for the first time, your adventure as an au pair in New Zealand begins with an informative and fun-filled orientation organized by our partner agency in the country's mayor city Auckland! Over the course of 3 days, you will learn everything you need to know for a smooth start in New Zealand. The orientation is part of the the programme and already included in the programme fees

The orientation in Auckland will give you the perfect time to adjust to the new time zone and get the hang of life in New Zealand before you start as an au pair. With the help of our partner agency, you will take care of everything there is to do in order to be able to work as an au pair in New Zealand: From opening your own bank account to getting a NZ mobile number to applying for your IRD number (your personal tax number, necessary to start work). Afraid of driving on the left side of the road? The orientation will also include theoretical driving lessons that will ease your concerns of being a new Kiwi driver!

"Te Whāriki" - New Zealand's early education curriculum

You worry about not being prepared enough to take on all the tasks and duties of an au pair? Don't worry! Your orientation in Auckland will include different interactive workshops designed to teach you and other international au pairs the basics of "Te Whāriki" - New Zealand's early education curriculum. The orientation programme covers important topics such as do's and dont's when interacting with children, or guiding their social behavior and developing a good relationship with them. First aid training and CPR will also be part of the training. After the orientation, you will be well prepared and ready to be an au pair!

Auckland City Tour: Discover New Zealand's biggest city

After the red tape and the training has been dealt with, it's time to have some fun! On the third day of your orientation, you will get the chance to explore everything the city has to offer on a tour around Auckland. Together with an experienced guide you will visit all the top tourist spots such as Harbour Bridge and Sky Tower. Afterwards, you'll get the chance to have your first dining experience in New Zealand at an authentic local restaurant. What better way to start your au pair adventure?
