  • Duties and working hours are clearly regulated (max. 45 hours per week)

  • Free room and full board with your host family

  • Weekly pocket money: at least US $215*

  • Tuition allowance: up to US $500 for college courses (6 credits / 60 hours)

  • Paid holidays: 2 weeks (10 working days)

  • Free time: 1½ days off per week and one full free weekend per month

  • Travel month: 1 month to explore the USA after your program ends

*The U.S. Department of State determines the minimum weekly stipend for au pairs based on the federal minimum wage, minus 40% for room and board.
While the official minimum is currently US $195.75, we’ve raised our weekly stipend to US $215 — because we believe great childcare deserves great appreciation.
Host families and au pairs are always free to agree on a higher amount.

A few fees and personal expenses are covered by you, such as visa costs at the embassy. These additional costs include:

  • Visa fees (currently approx. US $185)

  • Documents: police certificate, health certificate, international driver’s license, and passport

  • Travel to your personal interview

  • Our Au Pair USA program costs 1.090 €. It includes 24/7 support, room and board, a weekly stipend of $215, full insurance, and a two-day orientation in New York City at the start of your stay.

  • The au pair USA program fee covers placement with a carefully screened host family, your round-trip flight, and insurance provided by your host family. You’ll also receive training, 24/7 support, your own room, full board, and a weekly stipend of at least $215.

    A major highlight of the USA program is AuPairCare Connect in NYC at the beginning of your program. The two-day orientation is also included in your program fees.

    Additional benefits include paid vacation, funding for college courses, and an optional travel month at the end of your program.

  • The program fee covers your placement with a host family, visa support, training, and 24/7 assistance during your stay. Your host family provides your room and board.

    For the USA program, your host family also covers flights and insurance. For Australia and New Zealand, you are responsible for flights and insurance.

    You will also need to cover your visa fee (around $185 USD for the US, 650 AUD for Australia, and 770 NZD for New Zealand), official documents such as police or health certificates, an international driver’s license if required, and any extra luggage or personal travel.

  • Yes! Your host family covers all flight costs. This includes your outbound flight from a major European airport to your host family in the USA, as well as your return flight home after successfully completing your program.
    You can even choose your return flight from over 100 departure airports across the U.S., giving you full flexibility for your travel month - at no extra cost.

  • Yes! We offer several ways to save on your program fee:

    🎓 Pro-pair Discount: Save 200 € if you’ve completed a professional qualification in a childcare-related field (e.g. kindergarten teacher, pediatric nurse, teaching assistant).
    👶 Baby Plus Discount: Save 200 € if you have 200+ hours of experience caring for infants (0–2 years) and match with a host family with young children.
    🧡 Welcome Back Discount: Save 200 € if you’ve already been abroad with AuPairCare or another Intrax program.
    🤝 Bring a Friend Special: Save 150 € when someone you’ve recommended becomes an au pair with us. You’ll receive this discount for each friend who travels to the USA through your referral.

  • You don’t pay anything until your application is complete and you’ve been accepted into the program. The program fee is only due once you’ve been officially matched with a host family.
